The pillow pattern is from fellow Tuva author Agnieszka Strycharska's book 'Vintage Style Crochet Projects'. A gorgeous book indeed with so much eye candy! This certainly won't be my last project from it.
A few days of concerted effort, and my pillow is ready. I love the combination of red with white, pink and beige. I'm not sure what it is about crochet cushions but they sweeten and brighten up the space instantly, and I love the vintage feel of this pillow with that scalloped edge.
I used DMC Natura Cotton for this project, as recommended by Agnieszka in her book. I normally use DK or sports weight yarn for my crochet and this brand is much thinner so it took a bit of getting used to, but I love the delicate lace like finish.
The crochet pillow front is sewn onto a fabric pillowcase that I made with white solid cotton for the front, and a sweet red and pink dot print from an old Tasha Noel line called Simple Life.
Did you notice the vintage silk spools in some of the photos? Well, those were a recent find from a French antique store on Etsy, and whilst they cost me an absolute bomb to have them sent to Australia I couldn't resist them. They are over a hundred years old and the pictures don't do them justice.
Anyway, I'd better get back to my UFO pile to find my next project. I'm going to try and finish one UFO per week until the new year - let's see how I go! Anyone fancy joining me?
This is such an adorable pillow. I love your color choices and the edging came out very nice too!
