I was a bit nervous sewing this as it's a small block (6" square finished) and I'm still a bit of a foundation paper piecing rookie. But my first attempt turned out pretty OK, even if I say so myself. I used Pixie Noel by Riley Blake designer Tasha Noel in my block - it's perfect for fussy cutting those cute details!
You can purchase the pattern for this fun block from Kerry's shop. So come and join in on the fun - there are weekly prizes to be won and you don't even have to make a block to enter the draw (more details on Kerry's blog post). Thanks Kerry for inviting me to this super-fun event!

My second finish this week was something I made which was inspired by a photo my friend Amy of Nana Company posted on her Instagram feed a few weeks ago. She also invited everyone following to sew something inspired by this image, as a design challenge (#ASdesignchallenge). Her inspiration image spoke to me of mountains, so I got sketching and decided to take the design in a slightly different direction - overlapping mountains, which would allow me to play with colour graduation. I did a fabric pull and couldn't decide between navy/blue and coral/pink tones, so in the end I decided to change the design a little and use both!
Here's my finished piece. I called it 'mountains-in-sunset-reflecting-on-water' (I told you I am terrible with naming quilts). Luckily my friend Xanthe from Wife-made came to my rescue again and suggested 'Reflections' instead. Which I like much better!
If you would like me to write up the pattern please leave a comment below - I will do so if there is sufficient interest. In the meantime, this piece is looking amazing livening up a previously dull space in our hallway!

It was my birthday yesterday - and I got totally spoilt by my family! Both my kids made me beautiful cards and artwork / Lego creations. My husband really outdid himself this year by getting me not only a beautiful new rose gold iPad (which is inscribed with 'Down Grapevine Lane' at the back), but also a lovely leather jewellery box and the most gorgeous spring bouquet . He also gave me a sleep-in, took the kids to school and took me out to a lovely Japanese meal for lunch - it's the little things... He's a keeper for sure! And I'm a very lucky girl. <3
Thank you for visiting. I will be back tomorrow to kick off the blog hop for my book, Quilt Petite! Can't wait to share with you all the wonderful talented bloggers who will be sewing along!
